Анотація. В статті розглянута діяльність Таврійського губернського земства в галузі сільськогосподарської статистики. Показано, що земські статистики губернії у роботах з поточної та описової статистики виконували завдання з вивчення місцевого клімату і ґрунтів, отримання та уточнення карт ґрунтів, вивчення поточного стану та тенденцій розвитку галузей землеробства і тваринництва. Діяльність статистиків статистичного бюро Таврійського губернського земства з вивчення місцевого господарства поділено на два окремих етапи: етап описової статистичної діяльності у вивченні сільського господарства (1884 – 1888), етап поточної сільськогосподарської
статистики (1898 – 1918). Різнопланові дослідження земських статистиків були важливими для вирішення завдань сільськогосподарської дослідної справи кінця ХІХ ст. – перших десятиліть ХХ ст. У першому періоді земські статистики Таврійської губернії розробили карти ґрунтів губернії, отримали висновок про достатність, але сильну нерівномірність, річних опадів для ведення землеробства у губернії, вивчили клімат у повітах та встановили його тип, виявили факт спаду тонкорунного вівчарства, показали пряму залежність між відсотком ріллі та щільністю населення, наявність виснаження земель у губернії та отримали, що посів є результатом дії факторів ґрунту, робочої сили,
худоби, оборотного капіталу та ін. У другому періоді земські статистики за поділом території губернії на райони за географічними ознаками виявили важливі закономірності у розподілах посівів зернових культур, уточнили карти ґрунтів губернії, виконали аналіз динаміки урожайності основних вирощуваних культур за десятирічний період, що дозволило отримати тенденції розвитку форм господарства, підтвердити наявність виснажених ґрунтів у повітах та позитивних впливів від уведених покращень обробки ґрунту, покращень при сіянні.
